The Story…

On October 25, 2008, Matthew Joseph Boles, 17, was driving himself and his sister Caitlin Marie Boles, 15, to take their ACT Tests in Frederick, Md. On the way, they were involved in a fatal car accident. The accident was a freak incident as matthew apparently hit some water and the Nissan sentra started spinning. They ended up in the wrong lane going backwards and struck the front of another car with the rear of the Sentra. Matthew died immediately of a broken neck and Caitlin passed from a worsening brain injury on November 7, 2008 from injuries sustained from the accident.

Matthew was born on March 19, 1991 in Round Rock, TX. As a kid, Matthew's family moved frequently, but no matter what town or what state Matt lived in, his peers loved him. In 2003, the Boles moved to Westminster, MD, where Matt spent his last years surrounded by loving friends and family. Matt was an active member of his church. He held the position of Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood. he was working on finishing up preparations for his BSA Eagle Scout Project. He planned to attend BYU and serve a full mission. He skated, played the guitar, sang and wrote songs, and created beautiful art. Matt Boles was known as; the 'Mormon Skater,' 'The Boy,' 'Alex P,' 'Matty Bo', “The Protégé”, “Tall and Skinny”, MJB, and Caitie’s big brother. He was a local skating legend, a dedicated and passionate skater who skated this area almost daily from 2003-2008. He loved the big stuff, the highest jump, the farthest stairs, the longest grind, and the most difficult tricks. He was old school, true to the spirit of skating. He was one of the first local kids sponsored under the old Stereotype Team from the local skate shop. He was 16 at that time. He was known as a good kid with awesome potential. Skating was not a hobby, he lived to skate. He was respected and loved by all that knew him. He just had that way of making you feel good. Most importantly, he lived his life to the fullest everyday. He was a Boy Scout, an 'A' student, a great friend, son and brother.

Caitlin was born May 30, 1993 in Austin Texas, she passed nobly as an Organ Donor Hero on November 7, 2008 in Baltimore Maryland, saving lives in the process. Caitlin was a dedicated and passionate student leader at Westminster High School / CCSGA, 2006-08. From the time she started in elementary school until her death at age 15 she was involved in Student Leadership. She was the leader of every class she was in and never lost an election in her short life. She was a serious person, who cared about everything and everybody. The 5th child of 8, she was a natural leader and peacemaker. Caitie loved soccer, cooking, acedemics, dancing and fun! She was a gifted negotiator who did not take “no” for an answer. She was a “thinker” and a “doer”, a young women with a big heart and a love of friends and family. She will forever have an impact on those that knew her.
